Maddi Hood
Law Clerk
Maddi is a Florida native and earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. Settling in Columbia, South Carolina, she has truly found a second home and built meaningful connections here.
Since moving to South Carolina, Maddi has worked as a law clerk with South Carolina Legal Services, where she assisted clients with critical housing and consumer law matters. She has also clerked for the 11th Circuit Public Defender’s Office, working alongside attorneys dedicated to ensuring fairness and justice for indigent clients. These experiences deepened her commitment to public service and strengthened her litigation and research skills.
As a third-year law student at the University of South Carolina School of Law, Maddi serves as Vice President of the Public Interest Law Society, helping to expand opportunities for students to engage with nonprofit and public service organizations. Maddi is also an active member of the Mock Trial Bar, where she hones her courtroom skills. Both roles allow her to refine her advocacy skills with the goal of advocating effectively for clients after graduation. Maddi is passionate about pursuing a career that focuses on serving her community and ensuring that everyone has a voice in the legal system.
